Building materials’ prices grew 0.2 pct in August, reflecting a price increase in diesel oil, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development to a 14.3 pct rise in diesel oil, a 12.1 pct increase in steel pipes, a 2.1 pct rise in cement, an 1.7 pct rise in switches, while on the other hand, prices fell 2.3 pct in iron, 1.5 pct in wooden windows, 1.2 pct in plastic pipes, 0.8 pct in interior doors, 0.6 pct in electricity and 0.5 pct in tiles.

The new home building materials’ price composite index grew 0.2 pct in August compared with the same month last year, after an 1.7 pct decline recorded in the same 2016/2015 period. The index was up 0.1 pct in August from July 2017.
