Hellenic Statistical Authority: Building materials’ prices grew 0.9 pct in September

Building materials’ prices grew 0.9 pct in September led by a big increase in diesel oil prices, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development to increases in diesel oil (14.2 pct), steel pipes (13.7 pct), cement (2.1 pct), switches (1.7 pct), heating equipment (0.6 pct) and to price declines in plastic pipes (1.4 pct), wooden windows (1.2 pct), marble dust (0.9 pct), interior doors (0.8 pct), electricity (0.6 pct) and tiles (0.5 pct).

The new home building price materials’ index grew 0.9 pct in September compared with September 2016, after an 1.7 pct decline recorded in the 2016/2015 period. The index grew 0.6 pct in September from August 2017, after a 0.1 pct decline recorded in the same period in 2016.
