Greek stocks ended lower in the first trading day of the week in the ASE

Greek stocks ended lower in the first trading day of the week in the Athens Stock Exchange on Monday, pushing the general index of the market below the 840-point level. The index fell 0.72 pct to end at 838.63 points, off the day’s lows of 837.82 points.

The Large Cap index ended 0.80 pct lower and the Mid Cap index eased 0.09 pct. Turnover was a low 47.519 million euros in volume of 30,289,409 shares.

Motor Oil (2.04 pct), Hellenic Petroleum (1.19 pct) and National Bank (1.07 pct) scored big gains among blue chip stocks, while Mytilineos (3.90 pct), Jumbo (2.20 pct) and PPC (2.10 pct) suffered heavy losses.

Among market sectors, Oil (1.76 pct) was the only index to end higher, while Raw Materials (3.75 pct), Health (2.02 pct) and Personal Products (1.93 pct) suffered losses. National Bank and Eurobank (13,342,997) were the most heavily traded securities of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 69 to 46 with another 29 issues unchanged. Forthnet (19.25 pct), Boutaris (16.16 pct) and Voyatzoglou Systems (8.89 pct) were top gainers, while Progressive (19.44 pct), G.E.Dimitriou (19.15 pct) and Intertek (17.84 pct) were top losers.
