Industrial production grew 1.0 pct in April, with manufacturing production rising 0.1 pct in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the industrial production composite index rose 1.0 pct in April compared with the same month last year, after a 3.7 pct increased recorded in the 2016/2015 period. This development was attributed to a 13.2 pct increase in the mining index, a 0.1 pct rise in the manufacturing produciton index (reflecting a 7.1 pct rise in oil/coal, a 5.7 pct increase in pharmaceuticals, a 15.4 pct increase in base metals, an 18.7 pct rise in electrological equipment and an 11.1 pct rise in repair and installation of machinery). The electricity production index rose 3.7 pct, while the water production index fell 3.9 pct.
In the January-April period the average composite index grew 7.2 pct compared with the same period in 2016, while the seasonally-adjusted index fell 2.6 pct in April from March 2017.
